 Journal Writing:  A new report states that women as young as 18 are going on “plastic surgery vacations” to recapture their youth.  What are your thoughts on plastic surgery?

 Your task is to write a children’s story.  You can do this in one of two ways:

1. Write your story aimed towards 5^th – 6^th graders.  Your story needs to be at least four pages (104 lines) long, and include at least one illustration.
2. Write your story aimed towards Kindergarten – 2^nd graders.  Your story needs to be at least 10 pages long, with a large illustration on each page.  There is no length limit for the writing itself.

Your Story will be due on Friday at the beginning of the hour.  Turn in your story along with your plot diagrams for the children’s books your read.

 Journal Writing:  For a long time, senior year, and especially 2^nd semester, has been seen as a “blow-off” time for seniors.  The state of Michigan has taken some steps to change this, like requiring Math and an actual English 12 class during senior year.  Some other changes have been discussed.  Do you think senior year should remain an easy year?  Or do you think senior year should be as challenging as your other years?

 When finished, do Critical Thinking 1-4 on page 395, and Critical Thinking 1-4 on page 400.  These were due at the end of the hour today.

 Journal Writing:  Do you resent the children of famous personalities for all the advantages that they appear to have? Why or why not?

 Get 2 plot diagram papers from the basket.  You need to read a total of 4 children’s books and fill out a plot diagram for each.  This is the first part of an assignment that will be continued tomorrow.  Plot Diagram

2. Definition
3. Use the word correctly in a sentence you create
4. Draw a small picture illustrating the word
